One for Oil, Oil for One

They did not just do it, they did it together!

The Oil Business Unit (BU) of AboitizPower recently passed the certification audit for Quality Management System (ISO 9001:2015), making it internationally certified on three Management Systems such as Safety, Environment, and Quality, with zero non-conformance.

The certification applies to 100% of AboitizPower’s oil-fired power plants all over the Philippines. In December last year, the Oil BU earned the first two certifications, Environmental Management System (ISO 14001:2004) and Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSAS 18001:2007) in line with its target to obtain IMS certification.

AboitizPower's oil-fired power plants that are strategically located in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao provide reliable peaking power to the grid. Its adherence to international standards give confidence to the customers of AboitizPower Energy Trading and Sales (ETS) that the plants, its systems, and its personnel are ready to respond and deliver power when needed.

The certification audit was conducted by TÜV Rheinland Philippines, an affiliate of leading global testing service organization for quality, efficiency, and safety, TÜV Rheinland. In the audit report from TÜV Rheinland, the auditors said that the framework of AP Gen Internal Audit team is “very professional and uses very mature risk-based tool sets for their engagement with the Oil Business Unit.”

“These certifications reflect that quality, safety, and environmental management have always been at the forefront of our business operations. In line with AboitizPower’s balanced mix strategy, we ensure that all our energy sources, both conventional and renewable, adhere to globally recognized standards as we gear up towards becoming a world-class organization,” AboitizPower Oil BU President and COO Danel Aboitiz said.

The ISO 9001:2015 is a testament to the company’s mission and solid business framework to ensure the quality and cost-effectiveness of power for its customers nationwide.

With this certification, the Oil BU aims to sustain the efficiency of its operations, further improve customer satisfaction, promote a culture of improvement in its processes, and encourage an engaged workforce.

For 2018, the Oil BU will be launching the Asset Management System and Information Management System and will also be vying for the certification.
