Our CSR Legacy
The Aboitiz Group’s dedication to empowering the marginalized sector has been a century-long value since the Group’s establishment in Leyte. Don Ramon Aboitiz, one of the Group’s first leaders, started the company’s corporate social responsibility initiatives in the Philippines through donations to various groups and communities in need.
In 1966, Don Ramon dedicated his personal wealth to establishing the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation, Inc. (RAFI). RAFI is a family-based foundation rooted in the philosophy that “the dignity of man is best respected by helping him realize his hopes and by sharing with him the burden of his fears.”
Anchored on its vision of “Touching People, Shaping the Future,” RAFI focuses on integrated development, micro-finance and entrepreneurship, culture and heritage, leadership and citizenship, and education.
Twenty-three years later, the Aboitiz Foundation (AFI) was established as the Aboitiz Group’s corporate foundation that will handle all of AboitizPower’s corporate social responsibility activities.
Over the years, AFI has been committed to helping people help themselves, and to pursue its vision to be the neighbor of choice. It constantly delivers value to its stakeholders, especially in our communities.
AFI’s primary efforts are focused on education, enterprise development, and environmentalism. The foundation is also the first to respond during times of calamity across the country.
Since its establishment, AFI’s initiatives have evolved from simple philanthropic activities (CSR 1.0) to leading more sustainable projects and aligned with the Group’s business values (CSR 2.0).
