Aboitiz Cleanergy Park
The Aboitiz Cleanergy Park is an eight-hectare property in Punta Dumalag, Matina Aplaya, Davao City. It is part of the Marine Protected Area declared by LGU Davao and is surrounded by a rare and diverse ecosystem, including mangroves, coastal forests, turtle habitat and spawning area, shoals, coral reefs, seagrasses, and a fish sanctuary.
The Aboitiz Cleanergy Park serves as a sanctuary and safe nesting ground for the critically endangered Hawksbill sea turtles (Eretmochelys imbricata) and more than 100 species of endemic and migratory birds and marine species. The eight-hectare park actively promotes decarbonization in an urban area via habitat conservation and biodiversity management, showcasing a mangrove reforestation site, nursery, and botanical garden for the propagation of 29 native tree species. Since 2014, the park has released over 10,000 hatchlings to the sea, planted more than 29,000 mangroves, and rescued 32 pawikans. The DENR has designated it as the Pawikan Rescue Center of Davao City.
This project is a collaborative endeavor between the Aboitiz Group, Davao City local government, Barangay Matina Aplaya, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, the Biodiversity Management Bureau (formerly PAWB), University of the Philippines, University of Southeastern Philippines, Aboitiz Group team members, and individuals who share our vision of creating a positive impact by preserving our environment. As of 2024, the park has welcomed over 20,000 visitors, solidifying its role as a key conservation and educational hub.
