NIA, SNAP Complete Maris Reservoir Optimization Project

June 08, 2016

The Maris Reservoir Optimization Project was completed on March 22, following the completion of the installation of an additional three-meter layer of stoplogs on the Maris Re-regulating Dam, which will add some eight million cubic meters of storage in Maris Reservoir. The additional storage will provide flexibility to Magat HEPP operation and, together with other dam improvements such as provision of two new gantry cranes, security fence and safety handrails, will improve the dam operational safety and the irrigation water delivery of the National Irrigation Administration (NIA).

Maris Optimization is a project of NIA, with SNAP-Magat as its project partner. Groundbreaking for the project was conducted on 4 November 2014 and site works began in January 2015.

The implementation of the project was undertaken by SNAP’s Greenfield Development Program (GDP) team.
