Home Newsroom Therma Power-Visayas, Inc.AboitizPower Oil BU benefits 4,000 students through Brigada Eskwela
September 05, 2022
Aiming to provide assistance to schools across the country as face-to-face classes begin, the AboitizPower Oil Business Unit organized simultaneous activities at its sites nationwide in line with Brigada Eskwela’s theme “Brigada Eskwela: Tugon sa Hamon ng Ligtas na Balik-Aral.”
The first leg of AboitizPower’s Brigada Eskwela will benefit almost 4,000 students from three beneficiary schools, including North Bay Boulevard North (NBBN) Elementary School in Navotas City, NPC-Colon Integrated School in Naga City, Cebu, and San Roque Elementary School in Maco, Davao de Oro.
Brigada Eskwela or the National Schools Maintenance Week is a nationwide initiative by the Department of Education (DepEd) that mobilizes stakeholder volunteers to do repairs, maintenance work, and clean-up of public elementary and secondary schools.
AboitizPower volunteers helped paint doors and hallways, cleaned school grounds and classrooms, as well as repaired and repainted armchairs. These efforts were all geared to help prepare a comfortable and conducive learning space for students.
Therma Power Visayas Inc. (TPVI) provided Temporary Learning Shelters to cater to junior high learners and painted chairs at the NPC-Colon Integrated School.
“We are very grateful to TPVI for sharing their time and effort to help the school be ready for the opening of the school year,” said Alma Nacario Salivio, the school’s Brigada Eskwela coordinator.
Going beyond the usual repairs and refurbishment, Therma Mobile, Inc. (TMO) also finalized its plans to renovate the NBBN Elementary School conference room in Navotas City.
“We are excited for the improvements that will be implemented in the upcoming days. This conference room is beneficial and useful not only for the learners in NBBN Elementary School but also for other schools and offices in Navotas which use our school as a primary venue for events and activities,” said NBBN Elementary School Principal Dinno Mendiola.
AboitizPower’s support for Brigada Eskwela is among the company's various education initiatives, which exemplifies the Aboitiz promise of advancing business and communities.
“As we recognize the commitment of our partner-schools to ensuring the safe resumption of face-to-face classes, we believe that this initiative resonates with us at AP Oil BU. This is why we continue to partner with our communities in all the ways that we can,” said TMO Facility Head Zyrel Jumalon.
The second leg of AboitizPower Oil BU’s Brigada Eskwela for September will be conducted in three more schools in Visayas and Mindanao.
