As part of its continued efforts to support the Department of Education's K-12 program, Davao Light and Power Co. and the Aboitiz Foundation Inc. (AFI) turned over last October 16 at Davao City National High School's (DCNHS) vocational building, the first ever electrical laboratories or e-labs to each of four secondary schools within its franchise. This will benefit the first batch of senior high schools in DCNHS, Bernardo Carpio National High School, Crossing Bayabas National High School and Panabo National High School. With the growth in the property sector of Davao, and in other areas, the demand for qualified electricians is growing. This made Davao Light see the importance of having a well-equipped e-lab which will not only provide training for students choosing the vocational path but will also be a good start to creating skilled electricians. Davao Light will also work on partnering with TESDA to make these e-labs accredited as assessment centers. This way, electricians in the far-flung areas will no longer have to travel far to get tested and certified by TESDA.“We hope these e-labs ignite the passion for learning and innovation in its students. We are also thankful and appreciative with the strong partnership we have forged with the local government, DepEd and now with TESDA for the benefit of our youth.” said Davao Light President Jim Aboitiz who was present during the ceremonial turnover.Davao Light executives namely EVP and COO Arturo Milan, AVP for Reputation Enhancement Rossano Luga, AVP for Engineering Engr.
