Hedcor to carry out CSR 2.0
Hedcor resonates with the drive of continuing its journey towards the Aboitiz BetterWorld campaign.  This campaign is anchored on the sustainability mindset that “we can do well by doing good, always making the right long term decisions that balance the interest of people, planet and profit”.Embracing corporate social responsibility as part of its day-to-day operations, Hedcor participates in stepping up its CSR projects in the areas where it operates. CSR 1.0 mostly covered humanitarian activities, this year Aboitiz is leveling up its CSR efforts to engage in more sustainable projects for its host communities and at the same time align the projects to its core business. With a total CSR allocation of P15-million pesos this year, Hedcor group sees a busy year ahead of  implementing sustainable projects centering on education, enterprise development, environment and health care.About 79-projects are to be implemented, 65 of these projects have either labor and/or financial counterparts from the host community.Hedcor, Inc. operating in Benguet and Davao City, Luzon Hydro Corporation operating in Ilocos Sur, Hedcor Sabangan in Mt. Province, Hedcor Sibulan in Davao del Sur and Hedcor Bukidnon in Manolo Fortich will implement this improved version of CSR to its host communities. The bulk of the budget will fund educational programs. This will center on building more AGAPP Silid Pangarap schools, technical-vocational schools, scholarships and teacher skills trainings for public school systems. For enterprise development the goal is to improve community livelihood and employment opportunities by expanding the existing microfinance-loans and capability building trainings for cooperatives.Hedcor supports the 6-million trees by 2016 environmental initiative of the Aboitiz Group. This is a new milestone after the attainment of 3-million trees last 2014, one year ahead of schedule.Hedcor also aims to continue with all its healthcare initiatives which include medical-dental outreach programs to far flung communities.Through exercising its core value of responsibility, Hedcor aims to provide inclusive growth to the host communities which gave the social license to operate its 21 run-of-river hydropower plants.Meanwhile, the 14MW Sabangan nears completion and is expected to deliver clean and renewable energy to the grid this April.
