United Millennials from Laguna and Batangas showcase their Passion for Cleanergy

In the celebration of the 4th year anniversary of the Cleanergy Center, AP Renewables, Inc. engaged and challenged the youths of Laguna and Batangas in yet another Cleanergy Champions’ Day with the theme, Driving Millennials Passion for Cleanergy” last December 4.

This year’s Champions’ Day is all about showcasing millennials’ talents in creating wonderful music and video that support the importance of renewable energy in the country.

Some 25 high school students from Laguna Science, Los Banos, Pedro Guevarra Memorial, Natatas, and Tanauan City National High Schools made the event pitch perfect as they composed and performed their Himig-Sigla pieces featuring Cleanergy, the AboitizPower’s brand for its clean and renewable energy.

Meanwhile, 12 college students from Colegio de San Juan de Letran, Laguna Science, and University of Batangas produced catchy videos featuring the interactive display area of the Cleanergy Center for the Shoot Like a Pro video-making contest.

The three entry videos were shared on the Cleanergy Center Facebook page few days before the culmination event and have reached over 25,000 social media users.

Pedro Guevarra Memorial National High School’s acapella performance of their original composition entitled “Brighter Future” won the Himig-Sigla Jingle-Making Contest while the University of Batangas was the winner in the Shoot Like a Pro: Video Making Contest.

“The Himig-Sigla Jingle Contest challenges our creativity and dedication - from composing the lyrics, making the tune, up to the group practice. And to sing about geothermal is quite tricky yet exciting. We are very happy to our coaches, schoolmates, and to AboitizPower and Cleanergy Center for this wonderful opportunity for us to showcase our talents,” said Renz Miciel Trovela of Pedro Guevarra MNHS.

Wilson Catapang of University of Batangas shared that this Cleanergy Center experience is one of the best things that happened in their college life to date. “We felt like we did something great for ourselves, for our university, and for the Cleanergy Center,” Wilson added.

Talented elementary students from one of the host geothermal schools of APRI, Bitin Elementary School, left the crowd in awe with their special BigSayWit (Bigkas, Sayaw, Awit) performance.

During the event, Cleanergy Center also officially launched its 12 Cleanergy Youth Ambassadors from Buenaventura E. Fandialan Memorial National High School.

Guest Speaker Eddrine Ilagan Papa, a former OJT of APRI and now a faculty member of the Senior High School in Malayan Colleges reminisced his valued experiences at the Cleanergy Center.

“Sa tulong ng Cleanergy Center noong mga panahong OJT pa ako, lalo kong napagbuti ang aking kakayahan sa Public Relations (PR). Ang ating tema na Driving Millennials’ Passion for Cleanergy ay isang indikasyon na tayong mga kabataan ng panahong ito ay may kakayahan na ipakilala ang ang angking ganda ng Cleanergy at ang esensya nito sa ating bansa,” said Eddrine.

APRI Vice President for Corporate Services said that the millennial’s talents and skills are truly impressive. “We hope that this Champion’s Day improved the awareness of the youths on the importance of renewable energy. Your passion for music and video will definitely go a long a way and so with the wonderful outputs you’ve all made today,” Noemi shared.

With the completion of its renovation activities, the Cleanergy Center is now reopening its door for an even better and free tour experience to the public starting this month.
