TSI bags triple ISO certification

AboitizPower subsidiary Therma South, Inc. (TSI) is ending 2017 with a bang as the company recently bagged its much-coveted integrated management system (IMS) certification from international certifying body TUV Rheinland Philippines.

The certification is a culmination of the company’s year-long efforts of obtaining 3 management systems all at the same time. These are ISO 9001 or Quality Management System and ISO 14001 or Environmental Management System at the latest 2015 versions and BS 18001:2007 or Occupational Health and Safety Management System.

TSI President and Chief Operating Officer Sebastian R. Lacson lauded the company’s achievement as a seal of approval on the quality, safety and sustainability of its operations.

“This certification simply means that we must continually do what we do best – deliver quality to our customers and satisfy our community and other stakeholders. I am very proud of this achievement and I enjoin everyone to continuously work together in upholding these standards and doing things even better”, added Lacson.

Back in 2015, TSI earned its first certification under ISO 9001:2008 for Fuel Management. The scope was expanded this year to include the entire operations and maintenance involved in TSI’s production of energy.

“This a major milestone in ensuring that quality, health and safety and environmental management processes are in place, that they are measured and continually improved and that these processes are carried out in our actual operations”, said TSI Vice President and Plant Manager Valentin S. Saludes III.

Inaugurated in January 2015, TSI operates the 300-megawatt Davao Baseload Power Plant located in Binugao, Toril, Davao City using the latest circulating fluidized bed (CFB) technology. Power generated by the plant is contracted to more than 20 electric cooperatives and distribution utilities within the Mindanao Grid.
