Home Newsroom SustainabilitySenator Win visits APRI and the Cleanergy Center
December 15, 2016
WINNING his renewable energy advocacy, Senator Win Gatchalian, the Senate Chair of Economic Affairs and Energy Committee, together with his team from the Office of the Senate, toured MakBan geothermal power plant and the Cleanergy Center last Nov. 4.
AP Renewables, Inc. (APRI) president and COO Lino Bernardo and Philippine Geothermal Production Company, Inc. (PGPC) president Tony Yee, warmly welcomed the Senator and his team.
“It’s our privilege to share with The Honorable Senator Win Gatchalian our advocacy in clean and renewable energy during his visit in MakBan,” said Mr. Lino Bernardo.
APRI, a wholly owned subsidiary of AboitizPower, is one of the leading renewable energy producers in the Philippines. Its power plant facilities are located in Bay, Calauan both in Laguna, Sto. Tomas, Batangas, and in Tiwi, Albay.
During the tour, APRI and PGPC apprised Sen. Win of the MakBan geothermal operation and steam production, respectively.
Sen. Win and his team also experienced the first educational facility of AboitizPower, Cleanergy Center, and enjoyed the wind turbine display and e-bike.
“Maganda ang museum and equipment. It showcases awareness on the different renewable sources of energy. It’s designed for the youth and children who are not yet that knowledgeable on renewable energy. It will help them to be enlightened and educated regarding these potentials. I’m looking towards seeing this kind of Science center in our place in Valenzuela”, said Sen. Win.
Through the Cleanergy Center, AboitizPower continues to generate renewable energy awareness to the Filipinos. It has already accommodated around 24,000 visitors that include students and professionals from the government offices, non-government organizations, and industries since its inauguration last Aug. 2013.
