The provinces of Benguet, Mt. Province and Ilocos Sur expects full implementation of over nine million pesos for corporate social responsibility projects this year for hosting Hedcor run-of-river hydropower plants.During the signing of memorandum of agreement last March 23, Hedcor revealed that 40 projects are up for implementation this year. 22 of these projects are for education amounting to P4.7-million, 6 projects for health worth P1.6-million, 9 corporate donations worth P2.4 and one each for environment and enterprise development costing 108,000 and 300,000 respectively.In his address to over 50 delegates from the three provinces, Chris Faelnar, Hedcor SVP thanked everyone for the partnership molded through the years of value-sharing.“We are grateful for the support you are giving and most importantly the enthusiasm and genuine care for community development. Let us work together to bring these projects into reality,” he said.Mayor Mar Ruel Sumabat led the delegates from Alilem, Ilocos Sur. Mayor Fausto Labinio of Bakun, representatives from Itogon, La Trinidad, Tuba and Sablan, Dep-Ed officials, barangay officials, and other beneficiaries graced this milestone.Noel Bosoen, OIC-Principal of Namatec Elementary School in Sabangan, Mt. Province is grateful for the new sets of computers they will be receiving this year. According to him, the computers which will aid the teaching and learning process in the school.To be able to sustain the communities’ ownership of these projects, Hedcor requires participation of the community through labor and /or financial counterparts.These projects are under Hedcor Inc. operating 11 hydros in Benguet, Hedcor Sabangan, Inc. in Mt. Province and Luzon Hydro Corporation in Ilocos Sur.
