May 06, 2020
To protect the first responders who are safeguarding the public, AboitizPower generation unit Hedcor and Aboitiz Foundation provided frontliners across various Quarantine Control Points (QCP) in Northern Luzon and Mindanao with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Now on its third wave, thermal scanners, face masks and rubbing alcohol were distributed to frontliners as they continue to secure peace & order and serve the public.
Hedcor distributed supplies to checkpoints within its host communities in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) in Northern Luzon.
In Mindanao, the company was able to assist around 400 frontliners across 11 QCPs in Bukidnon, Cagayan de Oro, Davao City, and Davao del Sur. These efforts are made to ensure that Hedcor helps fortify the government’s efforts to flatten the curve.Andy Faelnar, Assistant Vice President of Hedcor Group, shared in a statement:“COVID-19 is a pressing matter we face in generations, and our frontliners come in ready to respond. They have a pivotal role in enforcing social regulations while ensuring public safety and security.”
Faelnar added that the health & general well-being of all is of paramount importance to Hedcor. Hedcor recognizes that the checkpoint personnel are on the front lines keeping the public safe, leaving them at a higher risk as they perform their critical jobs. Hedcor looks after their safety & security in return for their great service in flattening the COVID-19 curve.
One of the control point officers in Northern Luzon, Narciso Dimmuyog of QCP Tadiangan, Tuba, recognized Hedcor’s efforts, saying, “Our community deserves safety and protection amidst this pandemic. That’s why we are here. We, too, deserve it. The same with anyone else, we have family waiting for us at home. Thank you Hedcor for thinking of our safety too.”
Additionally, Staff Sergeant Efren Paragoso from Task Force Davao, who received the equipment on behalf of his team, expressed his gratitude over the initiative. “These medical supplies are really of great help to us,” Paragoso shared. “This will definitely improve our screening process,” he added.
During Hedcor’s first and second wave, some one million-peso worth of relief packs and medical equipment were handed over to partner LGUs and medical frontliners in Benguet, Mt. Province and Ilocos Sur. Hedcor had also previously handed over half a million worth of ready-to-eat food packs, sacks of rice, and medical supplies to its host communities in Davao City, Davao del Sur, and Bukidnon.
