Driven to lead, to serve and to excel in the power industry, 12 locals from Mountain Province plays an important role in the operation of Hedcor's 14MW Sabangan Hydropower plant.

“We trained them in the 11 hydropower plants in Benguet. We made sure that they are well exposed to the operation of the plant and they learn first-hand experience from the operators in Benguet” says Dondi Laban, Sabangan Plant Supervisor who hails from Tadian.

The joy of working close to your family cannot be further stressed. “I’m lucky to land a job in my hometown.

At least I will be with my family and not to work abroad,” asserts Derick Dumansi.

Anselma Cobcobo, one of the lady operator of the Sabangan Hydro has no qualms working in a so called male dominated occupation as a Plant Operator. “The challenge is to perform even under pressure and dismiss any doubts about competence. Gender was never an issue since day one,” she says.

On working in Hedcor, Anselma expressed “In Hedcor, I learned to grow as an individual and as a team member. In that way, I become more flexible.

”As Hedcor team members, they are also involved in corporate social responsibility projects. They participated in Brigada Eskwela last opening of classes, as well as tree planting activities undertaken by the company.

Holistically, they can perform their obligation as a team member while doing something good to the community that raised them.
