Purok in Davao to celebrate a brighter Christmas

Around 700 households of Purok San Vicente in Barangay Talomo, Davao City will now enjoy electricity service from AboitizPower subsidiary Davao Light and Power Co. (DLPC), just in time for Christmas festivities this year.

The project, which is partnership between DLPC and the office of Davao City first district representative Karlo Nograles, involves the free installation of 66 electric poles in San Vincente to extend service to the area.

A ceremonial switch-on was held last November 22 to signify that the purok is now electricity-ready.

“We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the local government of Davao City and to Davao Light for making all these possible. This will surely be a brighter Christmas for us as we will now enjoy the benefits of having an electric service connection.” Talomo Brgy. Captain Bendor A. Calamba said.

This endeavor is part of Davao Light's aim to provide electricity to urbanized communities within its franchise area that still do not have access to power. This is also a way to avoid illegal tapping of power, which is prone to fire hazards.

Present during the ceremony were PBA Partylist Rep. Koko Nograles; Davao Light Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Rodger S. Velasco; Davao Light Senior Project Engineer for Rural Electrification Charlo Deniega; Davao Light Community Relations Manager Fermin Edillon; as well as barangay Talomo officials and residents of the purok.
