Luzon Hydro supports Ilocos Sur communities with medical equipment and supplies

To ensure that valuable resources are available for immediate clinical response, Hedcor subsidiary Luzon Hydro donated about P600,000 worth of essential medical equipment and supplies to host barangays in Alilem, Ilocos Sur.

Hedcor is AboitizPower’s business unit that owns and operates run-of-river hydropower plants across the Philippines.

“Luzon Hydro is providing these much needed supplies to best equip the barangay health care workers, so they in turn can provide quality medical service to their community,” says Noreen Marie Vicencio, Hedcor Vice President for Corporate Services.

Four sets of donations were distributed to four barangays to be used by the health clinics. These donations include weighing scale, medicine cabinet, consultation and examination tables, wheelchair, basic surgical equipment, and refrigerator among others.

Barangays Kiat, Daddaay, Apaya, and Apang are geographically identified to be areas where procurement and delivery of medical supplies and services remain a challenge, even with the ease of travel restrictions and lockdowns.

Vicencio furthered that Luzon Hydro aims to bolster the Municipality of Alilem’s recovery efforts through health and community initiatives.

“The donated equipment and supplies are vital components in our sustained battle against this pandemic,” says Dionisio Ciriaco, Barangay Chairman of Kiat.

“With this, we can now address the immediate medical needs of our community.”

Alilem, Ilocos Sur is home to Luzon Hydro’s 74.8-MW hydropower plant that continues to contribute to the municipality’s development while generating clean and renewable energy.
