Cotabato Light and Power Company (Cotabato Light), in partnership with the Aboitiz Foundation Inc., officially turned over the first-ever electrical laboratory (e.Lab) within its franchise area to Canizares National High School of Arts and Trade on February 3, 2017, in Cotabato City.

Through the years, Cotabato Light has been very supportive of providing assistance to schools within its franchise area. To show its commitment to improving the quality of education in the region, Cotabato Light has been extending a helping hand through educational assistance, school and classroom building refurbishments, and science and computer laboratory and computer donations.

The e.Lab, which supports DepEd’s K to 12 Curriculum, is for the learners who will be taking up the Electrical Installation and Maintenance (EIM) Course. Upon passing the course, TESDA will issue them a National Certification 2 or Certificate of Competency, which can be used as documentation in applying for gainful employment after they finish Senior High School.

The new electrical laboratory facility also includes 10 sets of training tables and assessment facility, 50 armchairs, information wall, and white boards amounting to almost half a million pesos.

During the turnover ceremony, a symbolic key was handed over by Cotabato Light HR and Reputation Enhancement Head Anna Lea Lee L. Nataño to School Principal Mr. Malumpig Balawag and DepEd Division Superintendent Dr. Concepion Ferrer–Balawag-Al Hadj. Teachers, students, and barangay officials were also present during the event.

Also present were Curriculum Implementation Division Officer Evelyn Balanag Tacderan, RH-10 Brgy. Chairman Kombol G. Mamalangkay, Schaminco Contractor headed by Engr. Hamin L. Amino and Engr. Suharto A. Bationg, and President of PTA and Company Kag. Abdulkadir M. Palanan.

Cotabato Light will continue to show its commitment and thrust as a dependable electric provider in the area and a partner in progress that will create greater and meaningful impact to the community.
