Aboitiz Solar Power Inc. steps up to aid fire victims in San Carlos, donates sustainable construction materials
Fire victims and ASPI employees helped each other unload the donated construction materials.

A massive fire swept through Barangay 5, Gustilo Street, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental, destroying 85 houses and partially damaging two others, leaving 106 families homeless. The fire, which consumed a 3,000-square meter area, displaced hundreds of residents, according to the Bureau of Fire Protection.

With many victims now taking shelter at the covered court of Barangay 4, as reported by the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), the immediate challenge facing these families is rebuilding their homes in the aftermath of the devastating fire.

In response to the tragedy, Aboitiz Solar Power, Inc. (ASPI), a solar farm under AboitizPower, along with its general contractor Sumec Engineering and subcontractors RBG, Xinchuan, and Kenneth Construction, has stepped in to assist 80 families impacted by the fire.

Their joint efforts are focused on helping these families begin the process of rebuilding their homes and lives.

The companies donated 200 crate plyboards, which are made from recycled wood pallets– a sustainable resource repurposed from materials originally used to deliver solar modules at ASPI’s project sites.

These construction materials will play a crucial role in providing immediate shelter and structural support for temporary housing as families work toward restoring their homes.

Rolando Pacquiao, President and COO of Hedcor, remarked: “In times of crisis, the strength of community shines brightest. It is our duty to unite, support our neighbors, and help them rebuild their lives.”

This initiative demonstrates the companies’ dedication to making a positive impact in the community. As a reliable partner focused on supporting neighbors in times of need, it shows our shared responsibility to uplift those around us.
