The Outlets at Lipa now runs on AboitizPower’s Cleanergy

Luzon’s largest outlet shopping destination, The Outlets at Lipa, is now powered by AboitizPower’s renewable energy brand, Cleanergy.

The 1.5-megawatt peak (MWp) rooftop solar project in The Outlets at Lipa has recently finished commissioning and is now delivering solar power to close to 30 locators of the said 9.3-hectare property, which is nestled within the Lima Land estate. The solar rooftop installation has also achieved close to 40,000 safe man-hours without lost-time injury.

AboitizLand subsidiary LimaLand, Inc., developer of The Outlets at Lipa, signed a memorandum of agreement with AboitizPower Distributed Energy, Inc. (APX) in September last year for the installation, operation, and maintenance of the rooftop solar project.

“Our decision to partner with AboitizPower for the rooftop solar project was driven by our commitment to promoting environmental sustainability in our developments. With The Outlets at Lipa being one of our biggest commercial projects, we strive to make it sustainable both for our customers and merchants,” said Rafael de Mesa, AboitizLand First Vice President for Operations.

Apart from allowing for cost savings as the per kilowatt-hour rate is lower than the grid price, the utilization of rooftop solar in The Outlets at Lipa will also offset around 31,000 tons of carbon dioxide per year, which is equivalent to planting about 1.4 million trees.

APX is AboitizPower's business unit engaged in medium to large-scale after-the-meter solar power installations. It also operates the 100 KWp solar installation on top of the Aboitiz and Co. office in Cebu City.

Moreover, this new business unit of AboitizPower highlights the company’s drive for innovation in the fast-changing energy landscape.

“Customers now have more options for their power supply, and with AboitizPower's balanced mix portfolio, we would like to provide our existing and potential customers another value added service. APX is our venture into the emerging distributed energy technology space. Contracting with APX gives customers not only adequate and stable supply but also long-term energy cost savings,” said Ping Mendoza, APX General Manager.

Mendoza also added that rooftop solar offered by APX is another way for customers to avail of sustainable energy supply options, under AboitizPower’s  brand, Cleanergy.

Today, AboitizPower, together with partners, is the Philippines’ largest renewable energy company from the private sector, with a total installed capacity of over 1,600 MW from its hydro, geothermal, and solar power generation facilities all over the country.
