Makati, Philippines — Aboitiz Renewables, Inc. , through its geothermal arm AP Renewables Inc. (APRI), was given the prestigious ASEAN Occupational Safety and Health Award, making it the only Philippine organization recognized this year.
The award, conferred by the ASEAN Occupational Safety and Health Network (OSHNET), honors companies across Southeast Asia for exceptional performance in workplace safety. Aboitiz Renewables was one of only nine companies from the region to receive the accolade.
"This recognition affirms how safety isn't just about protecting our people; it's also about ensuring the reliable operation of our power plants," said Alexander Coo, Chief Operating Officer of Aboitiz Renewables. "World-class safety protocols are fundamental to providing a stable source of power and supporting the country's energy transition."
APRI operates the Tiwi and Makiling-Banahaw (Mak-Ban) geothermal power plants. These facilities tap into the Earth’s natural heat to provide 646 MW of combined clean baseload power to the Luzon grid.
The ASEAN award follows Aboitiz Renewables recognition last year by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) with a Gold Award at the 2024 Gawad Kaligtasan at Kalusugan (GKK), the highest OSH honor in the Philippines.
