Therma South Inc.

, a subsidiary of AboitizPower, planted a total of 1,000 seedlings of fruit trees last August 19, 2016 as part of its commitment to giving back to the environment.

“The Kadayawan Festival celebrates the gift of nature, the beauty of the culture of different tribes in Davao City, and the bounty that came from the harvest. So it is very fitting that we plant fruit trees as a way of giving back to mother nature,” said Engr. Valentin S. Saludes III, TSI Plant Manager.

Perpetuo Maningas, TSI Forrester, said trees that were planted included rambutan, lanzones, acacia mangium, and araucaria.

“Apart from underscoring TSI's commitment in building a green environment around the plant, the activity was also aimed at fostering camaraderie and promoting the culture of volunteerism among TSI team members,” said Jason C. Magnaye, TSI Corporate Social Responsibility Manager.

More than 80 volunteers participated in the activity, which is also the company’s celebration for the 31st Kadayawan Festival 2016. Aside from TSI team members and their families, the company’s college scholars and cadet engineers also volunteered during the event.

Last July 16, 2016, TSI also planted more than 2,600 seedlings in a 2.

The tree planting activity on July was participated by more than 100 volunteers from TSI, Matigsalug Council of Elders Marilog District Davao City, Inc. “Expect more similar activities from TSI in future as we continue to uphold our commitment in taking care and giving back to mother nature,” said Saludes.
