De La Paz elementary school receives AGAPP Silid Pangarap

SAN SIMON, PAMPANGA - De La Paz elementary school, a second home to more than 400 students, elevates its kindergarten facility as AboitizPower and Wan Chiong Steel Corp. turned over the two-classroom AGAPP Silid Pangarap complete with furnitures, fixtures, and reading materials last July 12.In support of the K to 12 program of the Department of Education, the AGAPP Silid Pangarap is now advocating literacy and early childhood care and development to 91 kindergarten pupils from Brgys. De La Paz and San Pablo Libutad in San Simon, Pampanga.The two-classroom AGAPP Silid Pangarap is the fruit of the partnership among Aboitiz Foundation, Aklat, Gabay, Aruga tungo sa Pag-angat at Pag-asa (AGAPP) Foundation, Aboitiz Power Corporation and its customer Wan Chiong Steel Corporation who has been instrumental in identifying De La Paz elementary school as the beneficiary school.Wan Chiong Steel Corp. is a 20-year contracted customer of AboitizPower subsidiaries Therma Luzon, Inc. and Aboitiz Energy Solutions, Inc., which supply 40 MW of electricity for their sustainable operations.Benjamin Co, the president of Wan Chiong Steel Corp., noted that education is indeed the strength of the country. “I’m glad to become part of this project, which provides guidance to the students as they become responsible citizen and future leaders of the country. In this classroom, is where the students will start to build their big dreams,” he added.“The construction of this Silid Pangarap is really a dream come true for the students of San Simon. We are very thankful to Aboitiz for this wonderful gift and rest assured that we will take care of the building as we remain committed to educating our young Simonians,” said San Simon Mayor Leonora Wong.AboitizPower CSR Manager Henry Maliksi said in his message during the ceremonial turnover that education remains at the forefront of the Aboitiz Group's corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs, which aims to build a better learning environment and to support the public education in the areas where they operate.In addition to the classroom donation, Aboitiz Foundation Manager for Education Jowelle Ann Cruz said that the two AGAPP teachers of De La Paz elementary school also attended the Teachers Training conducted by the AGAPP Foundation in Quezon City prior to the opening of classes last June 13.Since 2011, the Aboitiz Group has already produced 246 AGAPP Silid Pangarap classrooms in 123 schools across the country, benefitting over 55,000 kindergarten students.Meanwhile, AboitizPower together with its various energy customers in Central Luzon are gearing up for more CSR projects this year such as classroom rewiring and computer donation, among others.AboitizPower continues to provide reliable and cost-efficient power to the nation.
