Hedcor makes Christmas merrier for children in Bukidon

Recognizing the importance of education in its host communities, AboitizPower subsidiary Hedcor recently unveiled its Christmas presents, a learning facility and school supplies to Sitio Impakibel, the home of its Manolo Fortich Hydropower plant in Bukidnon.

Hedcor Bukidnon, in partnership with the Aboitiz Foundation, took a 40-foot container van and turned it into a daycare classroom, complete with tables, chairs, books, and educational tools. The van was last used in 2016 to ship electro-mechanical parts for the hydropower turbines of the 68.8-MW Manolo Fortich plant.

The daycare classroom is designed to have large windows around to provide good ventilation and lighting to the students. The room is spacious enough to fit 2 columns of tables and chairs, as well as a comfort room for the student’s convenience. The facility’s roof and walls are also painted with bright colors of red and blue to keep the children interested. Colorful mats, books, and posters designed around the walls served as finishing touches which made the room both exciting and conducive for learning.

“They are always true to their promise of giving a better future. This daycare center is very beautiful. That will really help our children. We will also take care of this center,” Sitio Impakibel Leader Joselito Bahinday said.

Manolo Fortich Mayor Clive Quiño also expressed his gratitude over the donation.

“Hedcor looks after not just its business interest, but also the welfare of the people within its impact areas. Even to areas outside its impact, Hedcor extends its corporate social responsibility,” Quiño said.

Hedcor is the run-of-river hydropower arm of AboitizPower which operates 21 power facilities in the country with a total rated capacity of 245 MW. To advance business and communities, Hedcor envisions “A Better Future” through Cleanergy, AboitizPower’s brand for clean and renewable energy.
