Therma Visayas pushes for healthier, happier schoolchildren

For the sixth consecutive year, AboitizPower subsidiary Therma Visayas, Inc. (TVI), in partnership with the Toledo City Health Office, extended help to improve nourishment in elementary school children through its Nutrition Enhancement Program and Health & Wellness Training.

A total of 200 students from grades 1 to 6 of Bato Elementary School received nutritious morning and afternoon snacks during the kickoff of this year’s program last August 22, 2019.

These identified malnourished to severely wasted children will be receiving morning and afternoon snacks daily from the months of August to November this year.

“Malnourishment is a problem that we need to give attention to. When children are hungry, it not only impedes their growth but also their ability to focus in school. It’s good that we have feeding programs like this as one way to address the problem,” said Bato Elementary School Principal Cleofe Cañete.

To further support the nutrition enhancement program, TVI also conducted a health and wellness training targeted for parents and teachers, which covered proper diet and nutrition for growing children.
