Hedcor, a wholly-owned subsidiary of AboitizPower topped off 2014 by giving smiles to more than 4,000 public students from the 15 adopted elementary schools in Davao del Sur and the Province of Bukidnon.“This is the 6th year of making our school children happy as we continue to give presents, food, educational games, fun and entertainment,” said Hedcor’s vice president Rolando Pacquiao. The beneficiary schools in Davao del Sur were Don Amancio Elementary School, Darong Elementary School, Sibulan Elementary School, Tudaya Elementary School, Pogpog Elementary School, Tibolo Elementary School, Idong Elementary School and Almendras Elementary School. While in the Province of Bukidnon, they were Guilang Guilang Elementary School, Guihean Elementary School, Santiago Elementary School, Impakibel Elementary School, Ilignan Elementary School, Sabangan Elementary School, and Abyawan Elementary School. One of the school kids in Sibulan, 13-year old Mario said, “Happy kaayo ko sir kay naa ko nadawat nga regalo. Naa nako bag-o masudlan sa akong baon nga juice pag skwela nako kada adlaw. (Sir, I am so happy with the gift I received. I now have a new juice container for my daily-baon in school)”.Hedcor and Aboitiz Foundation made sure that the presents they prepared are useful for the kids. In Davao del Sur, children received water containers while in Bukidnon they got rain gears. Aside from giving the kids’ presents, having entertainers to cheer them up and providing exciting prizes as they played educational games, Hedcor volunteer-employees surprised the kids by showcasing their singing talents as well. The gift-giving activity is annually held for the host communities of the run-of-river plants owned and managed by Hedcor. This is one of the company’s ways of giving back to the community as part of the corporate social responsibility projects on education, livelihood, health and environment.Hedcor is the leading run-of-river developer in the country, supplying 170MW of clean and renewable energy in the Philippines and soon to ground break the 68.8-MW Manolo Fortich Hydropower Project in the Province of Bukidnon.
