Hedcor’s excellent business practice was affirmed in the recently concluded 20th Kapatiran sa Industriya (KAPATID) Awards by the Employers Confederation of the Philippines (ECOP).On May 14-15, employers across the nation converged at the National Conference of Employers (NCE 36) to discuss important issues in the business sector and to recognize companies that embody best practices.Hedcor bagged three out of the four citations, namely: Social Accountability, Industrial Peace and Harmony, and Strategic Visioning and Partnering for Business Growth and Job Generation.“We are happy to be recognized by these awards. We operate with the balance of three P’s--People, Planet and Profit, always keeping the mindset that we can do well by doing good,” Hedcor President and COO Rene Ronquillo said.As a generating facility through its run-of-river hydropower plants, Hedcor commits to its host communities through its corporate social responsibility. With a total generating capacity of 185MW in its plants in Benguet, Davao, Ilocos Sur and Mt. Province, Hedcor heightens clean and renewable energy for the country.An International Standard Organization (ISO) certified for quality, Hedcor operates with international standards while promoting harmony to its employees. Hedcor has a Labor Management Council called the ‘Kabisig Council’ that tackles issues between the company and its employees.Hedcor Employees Union (HEU) shared the accolade saying, “We are proud to be part of a world-class company that has heart for its people.”Other finalists included Avon Philippines, Bank of the Philippine Island, Cardinal Santos Medical Center, Franklin Baker-Davao, Globe Telecom, Maynilad Water Services, Inc., Nestle Philippines, The Medical City and Toshiba.ECOP chairman Miguel B. Varela left a challenge to the confederation, saying “The ultimate challenge rests on the government, business, labor sector and other stakeholders to rise above their interest and do their share so we can mutually reap the benefits.”The Kapatid Awards happens every two years starting in 1995. Companies are included in the competition either by invitation from the ECOP or by nomination of an organization.In 2011, Hedcor was a finalist and in 2013 Hedcor emerged as a winner for Industrial Peace and Harmony of the Kapatid Awards. Hedcor was also conferred with the Gawad Kaligtasan and Kalusugan Awards for both Institutional and Individual categories in 2010.Harboring its core values of Integrity, Teamwork, Innovation and Responsibility, Hedcor marches towards its vision of 2Billion kilowatt-hours of Cleanergy by 2020.
