Kindergarten pupils of Pingad-Bao-angan Elementary School in Sabangan, Mt. Province ended their stay in the barangay hall to conduct classes with the recent turnover of the ‘Silid Pangarap’.Two months before the first year anniversary of the 14-megawatt Sabangan Hydro, Hedcor together with its partners Aklat, Gabay, Aruga, tungo sa Pag-angat at Pag-asa (AGAPP) Foundation and Aboitiz Foundation turned over a two-classroom kindergarten building to the school.The “Silid Pangarap” is composed of two classrooms furnished with tables, chairs, cabinets, library, toys and equipped with a toilet. Designed to cater to the early childhood development, the ‘Silid Pangarap’ will help able augment efforts of the government to provide adequate classrooms in the country.The school building received the blessing of its local government officials who have been very supportive to all Hedcor corporate social responsibility projects.Governor Leonard Mayaen stressed that this is a fruitful partnership between the business sector and the local government. “We are glad that we made the decision to let Hedcor operate in our community. For as long as Hedcor is here, we are certain that they will be our trusted partners in the development of our beloved province.”He added, “We will support and help Hedcor in its proposed projects in Bontoc and Sadanga. Sabangan Hydro is the living example the other municipalities can look up to.”This is the first “Silid Pangarap” in Mt. Province. Another school building will be constructed in Monamon, Bauko.Last year, Hedcor spent 20-million for its CSR projects focused on education, enterprise development and the environment.
