Hedcor becomes a Hall of Famer for Best LMC Award

November 17, 2015

Hedcor, Inc. was proclaimed as the regional winner in the 2015 Search for Outstanding Labor Management Cooperation (LMC) for Industrial Peace by the Regional Screening Committee of the National Coalition and Mediation Board-Cordillera Administrative Region on September 16.

“Nowhere to go but up,” is how the hydro power company sees its labor management journey. Winning the Search for Outstanding LMC for Industrial Peace last 2011 and 2013, Hedcor’s emulation-worthy business practice was again affirmed when it garnered the same award in the regional search this year. Hedcor is now a Hall of Famer to this prestigious LMC award and is vying for the national search for outstanding LMC.

Hedcor Kabisig Council, the labor management council of the company, was formed in August 2005. Its formulation aims to further strengthen the employee-management relationship and serves as an avenue to tackle concerns between both parties.

The council is a manifestation of the company’s commitment to industrial peace, continuous improvement, and conformity to DOLE standards in the work place.

Recently, Hedcor bagged three out of four citations for Social Accountability, Industrial Peace and Harmony and Strategic Visioning and Partnering for Business Growth and Job Generation during the 20th Kapatiran sa Industriya Awards by the Employers Confederation of the Philippines.

Winning the Outstanding LMC for Industrial Peace for three consecutive times and receiving citations from the KAPATID Awards for two succeeding times, the council perceives that it has already achieved a level of viability that re-enforces its advocacy of intensifying the collaborative harmonious relationship at work, not only in Hedcor but also in other organizations that are willing to achieve operational excellence.

The Regional Search for Outstanding LMC of NCMB intends to recognize companies with labor-management councils or other similar mechanisms at the workplace level.

The search looks for LMCs that serve as valuable medium of communication, employee involvement, consultation and joint problem solving.

Hedcor operates its 22 hydro power plants in Benguet, Davao, Ilocos Sur and Mountain Province with a total capacity of 185 megawatts, delivering clean and renewable energy to the country for over 35 years.
