Dream Bridge, Now A Reality
Dream Bridge, Now A Reality A

After 60 days of construction, residents of Sitio Kilabi, Barangay Sibulan, City Side and its nearby communities are now enjoying their dream hanging-footbridge connecting the 30-meter boundary of Davao City and Davao del Sur. Hedcor, a subsidiary of AboitizPower and Aboitiz Foundation allotted a million pesos for this project in response to the needs of the Bagobo-Tagabawa tribal community. It is the safest-way for the children to go to school and local farmers to deliver their produce to the market than crossing the unpredictable rise of the river level. Last year, the same beneficiaries were also given a P2.3 million worth of Water System Project. Davao is home of Hedcor's 9 run-of-river hydropower facilities with a total installed capacity of 62MWs in the region. This is part of how Aboitiz Group lives out its sustainability mindset that we can do well by doing good, always making the right long-term decisions that balance the interests of people, planet, and profit.

Footbridge for better ways

Virgie, a resident of Ampusongan and her kailyans can now safely cross a certain part of the Bakun river after the 65-meter footbridge sturdily stands across it. The footbridge funded by Luzon Hydro Corporation and Aboitiz Foundation is now open for a safer path to and from residences, school and farms, paving the way to accessible transport of local produce. Bakun Mayor Fausto Labinio together with other local officials and residents join in the turn-over of the foot bridge to the community. The bridge signifies the involvement of Luzon Hydro, a subsidiary of AboitizPower, in enterprise development of its host municipalities.
