September 25, 2018

Braving the tides and murky waters, AboitizPower and its partners recently planted 4,000 mangrove propagules in Tumanan, Bislig City in a bid to help protect marine species and preserve the community’s coastal area

Thirty “green warriors” from AboitizPower as well as partners from Surigao del Sur Electric Cooperative I (SURSECO I) and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources in Caraga (DENR XIII) joined forces to safeguard Tumanan’s coast.

The activity, which was held at the DENR’s mangrove planting site in Barangay Tumanan, was in line with the celebration of the 9th National Electrification Awareness Month (NEAM). The month-long celebration recognizes the significance of the electrification program in nation building.

AboitizPower currently supplies 5 MW of energy supply to SURSECO 1, which serves the municipalities of Lingig, Bislig, Tagbina, Barobo, HInatuan, Lianga, and San Agustin in the province of Surigao Del Sur.
