TLI team members and scholars join Brigada Eskwela

PAGBILAO, Quezon - Around 200 volunteers, including 15 team members of Therma Luzon, Inc. (TLI) and its 18 college scholars, trooped to the kickoff of this year’s Brigada Eskwela at the Polo North elementary school last May 30.This year’s Brigada Eskwela at Polo North Elementary School, spearheaded by TLI, brought a new appeal and brighter second home to 332 students on their first day of school on June 13.Crissalyn Abdon, a mechanical engineering student and scholar of Aboitiz since 2010, shared her excitement to give back and make her vacation worthwhile by helping paint a better learning environment for her fellow Quezonian.The volunteers conducted repainting, general cleaning and minor repairs of the ceiling of the classrooms and other facilities of the school. They also covered the students' textbooks and gave free haircuts to more than a hundred students of the coming school year.Volunteers from the PNP, PTCA, the local government and host communities also participated in this modern “Bayanihan”.School Principal Jaime Martinez thanked the Aboitiz Group for beautifying and preparing their school. “This could be the biggest Brigada mobilization we have taken part of and a possible candidate for the Best Brigada selection of our Division,” he shared during the program."This is the first year for TLI to join DepEd’s Brigada Eskwela. The Aboitiz Group has always been a strong partner and advocate in advancing education in our host communities. We are looking forward to future collaboration for the continued improvement of the school and the public education system in Pagbilao,” said TLI AVP for Corporate Services Alexander Asuncion.Other Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs of TLI for its host communities in Pagbilao this year are college and high school scholarships, support for board examinations, classroom rewiring project, and medical equipment donation.TLI, a wholly-owned subsidiary of AboitizPower, remains true to its commitment of social responsibility and building good corporate citizenship by creating a conducive learning environment towards a better future of its host communities.
