28 deserving high school students in grades 7 and 8 from Navotas City receive financial assistance from AboitizPower subsidiary Therma Mobile, Inc (TMO) last June 18.This corporate social responsibility (CSR) program of TMO aims to assist the parents and their promising children to complete high school in preparation for a higher level of education.

In the long-term goal, this program will help increase the graduation rate in the public schools, which in turn, will develop a potential workforce in Navotas community.AboitizPower Oil Business Unit VP for Corporate Services Celso Caballero III said that this is the second year of the TMO High School financial assistance program in Navotas. Last year, TMO granted 30 students, where 19 have qualified with the minimum average grade of 90 for this year.“We are glad that with this small kind of initiative, we are able to help our host communities with their educational needs,” said Caballero III.

Education, being one of the four focus areas of the Aboitiz Group’s CSR, plays an important pillar in the betterment of the public education system.Navotas Schools Division Secretary CID Leila Balasa expressed their gratitude for all the CSR programs of Aboitiz in Navotas. “Thank you, Aboitiz, for always helping our Navoteño youth to become closer to their dreams and in the continued improvement of our schools here in Navotas,” Secretary CID Balasa said during the program.Since 2011, TMO has been providing community assistance in Navotas through medical missions, Brigada Eskwela, Christmas outreach, development of Science and Tech-Voc laboratories, and donations of tables and chairs, medical and Peace and Order equipment, among others.TMO, an AboitizPower subsidiary, remains true to its commitment of social responsibility and good corporate citizenship to its host communities by providing opportunities for the Filipino youth and access to quality education toward a better future. ###
