With the real estate and shopping mall boom in the southern part of Davao Light and Power Co.'s franchise, demand for electricity has also increased indicating a need for additional power within the said area.As an answer to this ongoing development and various business activities specifically in the Davao City's downtown and Maa areas, Davao Light inaugurated its new 33MVA Maa Substation last October 28.The Maa Substation will not only provide additional capacity but will also improve the load distribution of the Davao Light system improving the quality of service to the customers especially in the Maa area.Present during the inauguration is Barangay Maa officials as represented by Brgy. Kagawad Lope Calotes and Lyndon Banzon together with the project team of Davao Light and executives.“The inauguration of the 33 MVA Maa Substation is another milestone to Davao Light. Through this, existing nearby substations will be relieved of carrying a huge load. The Maa substation will then carry additional load growth in the future.” said Arturo Milan, Davao Light's EVP and COO.“We are very thankful that Davao Light made our barangay part of this project and this development. We are sure that Davao Light will commit on its promise of a reliable service and stable power supply to its customers,” said Kagawad Banzon, Brgy. Maa, Davao City.The men and women of Davao Light who worked very hard to make this project realized are Engr. Alain Porio, Engr. Miguelito Rosaban, Engr. Ryan Varona, Engr. Freddie Mark Mendoza, Engr. Emiere Dapli, Engr. Jay Duluguin, Engr. Jaime Derecho, Engr. Jerome Deleonio, Engr. Jared Cuchapin and Engr. Jesse Talavera of Planning and Design Departments as headed by Engr. Arnel Bersabe and Engr. Enricza Tia, respectively; Joe Mascardo, Engr. James Binoya, Engr. Jonathan Medalla, Engr. Mar Relacion and Lando Lucena of Substation and Electrical Equipment Department headed by Engr. Ledio Penafiel; Engr. Roger Alinsub, and Engr. Bobot Padillo of Systems Operations Department headed by Engr. Chad Ramos; Engr. Elmer Amigo, Dick Cabrera and Severino Ando Jr. of Distribution Network, Distribution Services and Streetlights and Pole Utilities Departments headed by Engr. Socrates Arce, Engr. Paul Michael Cazar and Daniel Cabigon, respectively; Jotham Millana Manager of Geographic Information Services Department and Diosdado Gonzales of the Safety Department headed by Engr. Edelito Fernandez.Currently, the Maa substation is serving the areas of Maa including areas from Maa Substation going to Ecoland Substation and along diversion road up to Monteritz.
