APRI Tiwi grows 1,500 fruit-bearing trees in its host communities

Last July 16, APRI volunteers, security personnel, barangay officials, and NPC Watershed representatives trooped in planting 1,500 fruit-bearing trees to help in the reforestation and livelihood of Barangay Bagumbayan in Tiwi, Albay.
AP Renewables, Inc. (APRI) Tiwi planted 1,500 assorted fruit-bearing trees during the Annual Groupwide Simultaneous Tree Planting activity last July 16 at Barangay Bagumbayan in Tiwi, Albay.The half-day tree planting activity was participated by 28 APRI volunteers, security personnel, and some barangay officials and residents headed by Barangay Bagumbayan Captain Antonio Capa.Representatives from National Power Corporation (NPC) Watershed, who donated the seedlings, joined in the event as well.Tree planting is one of AboitizPower’s contributions to reforestation, environmental protection, and in building a healthy ecosystem while shrinking its overall carbon footprint.It also forms part of the Aboitiz Group’s commitment to grow nine million trees by 2020 in support of the National Greening Program of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).“Planting fruit trees in our barangay would greatly help the livelihood of our residents in the future. We are very grateful and lucky to be one of the focus areas of the forest conservation of APRI,” Brgy. Captain Antonio Capa said.APRI is also active in other environmental campaigns and programs such as adopt-a- river and waste management.It participated in the Philippine Environment Month Exhibit last June at the Pacific Mall Legazpi City, and was awarded with the 2016 Saringaya Award, Open Industry Category, by the Department of Environmental and Natural Resources (DENR) Region for the second consecutive year.APRI, a wholly owned subsidiary of AboitizPower, commits in doing its part in taking care of the planet while building A Better Future for its host communities and to future generations.###
